David grew up in Gateshead, in the shadow of the Angel of the North, and has lived in Oxfordshire for the last twenty-five years. Previously a Corporate Pensions consultant for AVIVA, David changed direction and entered the charity sector, spending two years as an adviser with the Citizens Advice Bureau before seven years working with Oxfordshire Community & Voluntary Action (OCVA), providing support and advice to community organisations.
As well as work with Didcot First and Oxford Diocese, David has recently joined the Communities Team at West Oxfordshire District Council, in a new role to support the many new groups formed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
David has recently stepped down as Chair of Madley Park Residents Association after twelve successful years. In his spare time, he nurtures a love of the hills and athletics, taking inspiration from fellow Tynesider Brendan Foster! David believes strongly “in the rich human resources within our local communities, and the strong bonds that can form when communities work together to achieve change for the good.” He was honoured with the Citizen of the Year Award by Witney Town Council in 2015.
